NFL quarterbacks are constantly under pressure to perform at their best.
Since they affect the game like no other player, a string of bad performances could cost them their job.
Here are three starting quarterbacks that are feeling the heat because they are not playing according to expectations.
3. Jimmy Garoppolo
The San Francisco 49ers are gaining momentum with two straight wins, one of which came against the heavily-favored Los Angeles Rams.
However, Jimmy Garoppolo contributed to that win with two passing touchdowns.
But the Niners’ defense takes partial credit for limiting the Rams to ten points.
Garoppolo threw two more touchdowns in their next game, but that was against the lowly Jacksonville Jaguars.

He’s doing enough to save his position because head coach Kyle Shanahan could turn to Trey Lance if he slips up.
The veteran quarterback feels that his seat is getting warm because the rookie can take his spot.
Once the 49ers are out of playoff contention, Garoppolo will hit the bench and give Lance more feel for the game.
If he plays as he did at North Dakota State, Garoppolo’s depth chart position might take a hit.
2. Trevor Siemian
He’s originally the New Orleans Saints’ backup quarterback, but he’s now taking first-team snaps because Jameis Winston is out of action.
Unfortunately, the team struggled in Winston’s absence, losing four games in a row, including a 31-6 blowout against the Buffalo Bills.
Alvin Kamara‘s absence did add to the Saints’ recent woes.
But everything went downhill for Siemian since he replaced Winston to help the Saints defeat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Even those results seemed too long ago because New Orleans had nothing to cheer about after that win.
The Saints’ losing streak might extend to five games because they will be facing the Dallas Cowboys.
Head coach Sean Payton could be in a dilemma to continue starting Siemian or go with Taysom Hill.
New Orleans had success with Hill under center last year when he took over Drew Brees.

The offense looked different, but the Saints won games.
That’s a grim scenario that Siemian is facing leading into their game against Dallas.
Another loss and a change at quarterback will happen.
1. Jared Goff
The former Pro Bowler should have been out of the starting quarterback position long before their Thanksgiving game against the Chicago Bears.
But the Detroit Lions do not have a better option at the position.
Unfortunately, Andy Dalton outmatched Goff to lead the Bears to victory.
Dalton was not afraid to challenge Detroit’s defense with huge passes.

In contrast, Goff played conservatively, completing short throws rather than rolling the dice with big gains.
Goff did complete his first 11 passes of the game, but those catches did not yield much yardage.
However, Goff is lucky because Tim Boyle flunked his first career start.
The Lions have no choice but to play the better quarterback who looks scared whenever he takes the field.

Drafting a quarterback in the 2022 NFL Draft might not be the best decision because the talent pool is shallow.
Therefore, the Lions got stuck with an overpaid starter whose tentativeness might lead the team to a second winless season in the Super Bowl era.

Thanks Holmes tor saddling the Lions with a high priced non franchise qb. What’s Holmes plan now, another losing year with Goff as qb?
