There are already rumblings of a great quarterback carousel for the 2022 season.
The names involved could be even bigger than Jared Goff, Matthew Stafford, and Sam Darnold who were the 2021 participants in the quarterback carousel.
Veteran quarterbacks and likely Hall-of-Famers Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson are predicted to play in a different city and uniform next year.
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo could be another quarterback in a new home next year.
Coach Kyle Shanahan drafted rookie Trey Lance in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft so the question is when will he take over the starting quarterback job.
Garoppolo’s no-trade clause in his contract is for the 2021 season only.
The 49ers are free to trade him wherever they wish after March 2022.
All of these wild Jimmy Garoppolo trade talks make for interesting blather, but he’s got a no trade clause in his contract til 2022. He only goes if he wants to go

What are Jimmy G’s landing spots in 2022?
Here are three possible ones.
3. San Francisco 49ers
It is not out of the realm of possibilities that Garoppolo will be back with the 49ers next season.
One way it happens, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, is if Jimmy G leads the 49ers to the Super Bowl.
On November 28, Rapoport reported:
“Absent a Super Bowl run, which at this point is still theoretically possible, this is the 49ers’ plan next season: start Trey Lance, trade Jimmy Garoppolo. Not a surprise there, they’ve been pretty up front about that. What Garoppolo is doing now is increasing the value of picks the 49ers get in a trade involving him, and they make it more likely that a place he wants to go would want to take him.”
The 49ers are currently 6-5 and in third place in the AFC West behind the Arizona Cardinals and the Los Angeles Rams.
2. Houston Texans
It is pretty clear that the Texans would like to put the Deshaun Watson disaster behind them.
The question is could they afford to make it happen by adding Jimmy Garoppolo to the roster via trade.
There would be draft picks at the Texans disposal to give up for Garoppolo.
It would depend on what the 49ers asking price is.
1. New York Giants
The Giants are a mess with Daniel Jones at the helm.
It is not solely his fault they are where they are.
His career record is 12-25.
Garoppolo, with his model-like good looks, would fit in very well in New York.
There are some weapons there for him also.
Saquon Barkley, when healthy, is a great runner, and Kenny Golladay was a notable addition in 2021.
Jimmy G Has Handled His Situation Perfectly
Rumors that the 49ers were planning to trade Jimmy G have been swirling ever since the team drafted Lance.
Garoppolo has been the consummate professional in handling the entire situation.
There is no reason to expect anything less months later when he was confronted with the rumors once again.
When asked about the team’s plan to trade him next season during the postgame press conference after the 49ers Week 12 win over the Minnesota Vikings, Garoppolo said:
“No I didn’t. I was worried about the game. I appreciate the heads up.”
Did Jimmy Garoppolo see the report that the 49ers intend to trade him after the season?

Once again, Jimmy G has the right answer and approach to the situation.
He is the starting quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers for the foreseeable future, and the rest will take care of itself later.
