No team in the entire NFL is hotter than the San Francisco 49ers right now.
They have won eight games in a row, and their defense continues to be the best in the league and a scary challenge for opponents across the land.
In addition, their offense has gotten much better since the first half of the season.
So, if you're keep score at home, the 49ers since Week 8 have…
-#1 offense in NFL
-#1 defense in NFL
-The top 2 special teams tacklers in the NFL https://t.co/XAWNwEBiTN— David Lombardi (@LombardiHimself) December 28, 2022
On Monday, San Francisco will travel south to face the Las Vegas Raiders, their former Bay Area rival, and on paper, one may think the 49ers can pencil in a win.
The Raiders are 6-9 and are about to close out a frustrating and embarrassing season that has seen them lose numerous close games and blow lots of late leads.
But they do have talent, and the Niners need to bring their A-game to ensure victory.
Luckily, that is a very reasonable expectation, and therefore, these two bold predictions may not be so bold after all.
Derek Carr Will Throw At Least One Interception
Carr, the Raiders’ starting quarterback, has had at least one interception in each of his last five games, and in three of them, he has thrown at least two picks.
San Francisco has forced the fourth-most interceptions in the NFL, and just a few weeks ago, they forced Tom Brady of all people into two interceptions.
With defensive end Nick Bosa, who seems to be the frontrunner for the Defensive Player of the Year award, closing in on Carr, life won’t be easy for him on Sunday.
The 49ers Will Win
For whatever reason, the Raiders’ solid talent, which includes star wide receiver Davante Adams and running back Josh Jacobs, both of whom are Pro Bowlers this year, hasn’t gelled together.
The Niners, on the other hand, seem to be a focused and united team that has put individual goals and egos aside enough to play well and overcome adversity.
One way or another, San Francisco will likely leave Nevada with yet another victory.
